"Whale of a Sale" and more

For 21 years, The Jacksonville Junior League has held a fundraiser named "Whale of a Sale". It features gently used items donated by members of the Junior League. The proceeds are donated back into the community.

I had heard about this event for many years, but this was my first time to attend. I arrived around 30 minutes prior to open. There were well over 200 people already in line! After the doors opened, shoppers burst through to start their search. They had a great array of merchandise, with the best items being children's clothing and toys. I picked up some glassware, stationary, and cocktail plates.

Since I was already up early, I decided to check out some garage sales in one of the more upscale communities in Jacksonville. I stumbled upon 2 lovely milkglass vases, priced at 50 cents a piece!

Here are pictures of some of my finds!

Weekend Outfit

I liked my outfit from Saturday night (J and I went to a party), but forgot to take a picture. Thanks to Polyvore, I can still share with you!

My shoes are not the Chloe ones, but they were the closest thing I could find in Polyvore. Imagine those are my tan Antonio Melani flats from the Dillard's Clearance Center!

Thursday 2.24

I drove a lot for work today, thus the need for something comfortable!

Shirt: Stein Mart
Cardi: Talbots Outlet
Pants: NY & Co
Shoes: Antonio Melani
Earrings: Premier

I stopped by TJ Maxx on my way home. Contrary to popular belief, I don't always leave TJ Maxx with a purchase :) However, I was lucky this time as I found the following top.

This top reminds me of the shirt I've been coveting at Boden, as seen below:

I plan to wear my top, tucked into a denim-esque pencil skirt and paired with a cardigan (surprise, surprise) and tan heels. I think it will pair well with other items in my wardrobe. I look forward to making some new looks for Spring!

Tuesday 2.22

I cannot believe we hit 80 degrees today. That is nuts! We're back to our "normal" February weather of 60's tomorrow. Thank goodness. I don't like to sweat ;-)

Dress: Ross
Cardi: Bealls
Shoes: Antonio Melani
Necklace: Premier
Earrings: Charming Charlie

Thanks to Kate at Nautical by Nature, I ordered navy shorts with pink anchors from LL Bean. Embroidered shorts may not be everyone's style, but I CANNOT WAIT to get them!!! She also posted a 30% discount code and free shipping code! Here is a polyvore set on how I plan to wear the shorts.

Monday 2.21

Mondays are always hard, coming off a fun weekend! I was fortunate enough to spend time with friends and family members this weekend, enjoying the beautiful weather. This Monday was especially hard though, since many of you had the day off!!!

Thursday 2.17

I have missed wearing this skirt!!! I haven't been wearing it because I don't know what color tights to pair with it. We hit the mid 70's today, so my legs were happy to be free!

Skirt: Antonio Melani, Dillard's Clearance Center
Shirt: Mossimo, Target
Cardi: Merona, Target
Flower Pin: Shabby Shae via etsy
Shoes: Tan slingbacks, Naturalizer

I had lunch with my sister today. She brought some jewelry from my parents, who just returned from a month long vacation in the Philippines. Here is one of the items, a mother of pearl bracelet:

I'm off to practice some fistpumping in preparation for "Jersey Shore" tonight. Mindless fun is just what I need!

Monday 2.14

I really wanted to wear something red in honor of Valentine's Day. However, much to my surprise, I don't own anything red!! How could this be? It's a definite hole in my wardrobe. I have 364 days to remedy before next Valentine's Day!!

This outfit didn't turn out exactly as I had hoped. However by the time I got it on, I was already past my time I need to leave for work, so off I went.

Dress: Ruby Rd, Dillard's
Cardi: Lands End Canvas
Shirt (under dress): Ann Taylor
Tights: Can't remember!
Shoes: Black wedges, Bandolino

In other "news", I ordered the below flower pin from etsy! I love how vibrant it is! I intend to wear it with lots of navy blue :) I liked the flowers that Emerson Made has, however they are out of my price range (over $50 for a linen flower? please). This one was around $15!

Valentine's Day!

J and I celebrated Valentine's Day yesterday. We had dinner at Primi Piatti. Primi Piatti is a very cozy and romantic Northern Italian restaurant in Riverside. Northern Italian cuisine is heavy on the cream based sauces, so rather than finding Spaghetti w/Marinara on their menu, you would find Lobster Ravioli and Fettuccine Carbornara. We started with delicious and lightly fried Calamari. We then shared Homemade Gnocchi with a Gorgonzola Cream Sauce and Veal in a white wine-lemon sauce. We couldn't pass up the profiteroles and coffee for dessert. It was a decadent meal but we left feeling comfortable, not stuffed!

We headed downtown to a special Valentine's show with the Jacksonville Symphony. They hosted guest artist Tony DeSare, who performed a mix of his original music and classic American Songbook tunes. He is fantastic and quite charming. His piano and voice talent are really remarkable. Check him out below!

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Lands End Sunshower Raincoat

I have been coveting the Lands End Sunshower Raincoat for a while. It rains quite a bit in Florida, as you know. I already have wellies, so a trusty raincoat was next on my list!

I stumbled upon the Petite Sunshower Raincoat and decided to order in the Desert Khaki (Thanks to LolaGeek for her help on this!)

I just got it in the mail today and wore it out to dinner! Here is a look. Please excuse my tired, disheveled look!

I hope to get the bottom crease out from general wear--I wonder if I could iron it?

Wednesday and Thursday

I didn't take any pics of yesterday and today, as I just repeated outfits from a few weeks ago!

On Wednesday, I wore the same outfit from Wednesday, 1.26.

Today, I wore the same outfit from Wednesday, 1.5.

Well in other news, I got the new Boden catalog in the mail. They keep enticing me with a 15% off plus free shipping code. I found this shirt, which would work well now and during the summer....

Collarless Ruffle Shirt

Thoughts on the shirt? Thoughts on Boden? Any tips welcome!!

Tuesday 2.8

Debuting a new cardigan from Lands End Canvas. I ordered a large, but maybe I should have ordered a medium. The large is longer than I would have liked. But I like the color and have already torn of the tags, so I'm keeping it!

Monday 2.7

First off, I apologize for the blurry picture! I usually check it to see if I got a clear picture. I must have spaced out!

Did you all have a nice weekend? As you know, I had dinner with my other hubby on Friday. On Saturday, J and had dinner with 5 of our friends. The boys grilled steaks and ribs, made potatoes and salad! The girls? We just sat around and chatted :) We intended to roast s'mores out on our friends' fire pit, but the rain had other plans. Luckily, the fireplace was a good substitute. Yes, we have fireplaces in Florida! J and I even have one in our condo!

Onto the blurry OOTD:

Mama's gotta brand new bag....

As i mentioned, we spent a lot of time shopping while in Charleston. I picked up some cooking supplies for J at Williams Sonoma, including 4 of these cuties...

Le Creuset Petite Au Gratin Dishes

Also picked up these biscuit cutters...

Now don't think I forgot to pick up something for myself! I brought home this fun navy bag at Francesca's (which we have in Jville, but I never make it there!).

Promise I'll be back to the OOTD posts soon!

I am a little behind since coming back to my trip. Monday's outfit was pretty basic: black slacks (NY & Co), black peep toe heels (Bandolino), purple top (Ross) and white cardi (Merona, Target). I did wear a new long necklace from F21 and gold filagree earrings from Premier.

Here is Tuesday's OOTD

Bow Top: H&M from many years ago
Skirt: Merona, Target via eBay
Tights: Dress Barn
Shoes: Black Platform Heels, Bandolino, TJ Maxx

For Wednesday, I was late waking up for work, so I threw on a blue wrap dress- Merona, Target; tan kitten heels - Jessica Simpson, TJ Maxx and a pearl necklace and earrings.

I should be back to regular posting tomorrow. Have a good night!

Girls' Weekend: Charleston

This weekend, I went to Charleston with my friends K and T. They aren't just any friends....we met via Twitter! T and I live in the same town and have hung out before, but I had never met K. K and T have met a couple of times. Gotta love Twitter!!

We had an amazing weekend! We laughed too much, shopped up and down King Street and ate some amazing meals at Cru Cafe, Poogan's Porch, Slightly North of Broad and Jestine's Kitchen. It was everything a Girls' Weekend should be!

Some of our amazing food!

It was my first trip to Charleston and I can't wait to return. I highly recommend this charming city for a fun Girls' Weekend or Romantic Trip!
